A Blond, also called Blonde, is a blond Belgian beer type with 6.0 to 7.5 vol% alcohol. Blonde is a traditional beer style, often the first in line with the dark Dubbel, the heavy Tripel and the superlative Quadrupel. Blonde is a very accessible beer type with often sweet fruity and slightly spicy notes coming from the Belgian yeast. A light, sweet malt character is also characteristic of the Blond.
The category of India Pale Ale - or IPA for short - is very diverse. Roughly speaking, one can distinguish between English IPAs and American IPAs. English IPAs are generally more malty and have a more equal balance between malt and hops. The American style has a stronger hop character thanks to the mostly very aromatic American hop varieties. The American style IPA has overtaken the classic English IPA in terms of popularity. On the shelf and in the tap, you come across far more American-style IPAs than English-style IPAs. That's why we - like leading organisations such as the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) - base the style description on American IPA.
A Tripel is a complex blond Belgian beer type with 7.5 to 9.5% alcohol. It is part of the abbey/trappist series Blond, Dubbel, Tripel and Quadrupel.
Weizen is a German wheat beer brewed according to the German Reinheitsgebot. It is served in large glasses, with the full creamy head rising to centimetres above the glass. The taste is soft, creamy and sweet with little bitterness. Aromas of spices, cloves and banana are common. The yeast at the bottom of the bottle is loosened and poured into the glass with the beer. This makes the beer cloudy and gives it a fuller taste. Weizen is brewed with at least half wheat malt. Unlike witbier , no spices are added to Weizen.
Stout beer is a stronger variant of Porter beer. Stout is the English word for strong or powerful. Nowadays the difference in strength between porter and stout is less clear than it used to be. Because there are many different kinds of stout beer, the alcohol percentage varies from 3% to as much as 13%. The taste is heavy and can be quite bitter, or on the contrary somewhat sweeter. The characteristic colour of stout beer is very dark.
